My name is Jodi Barber. I am the K-2 special education teacher at PCS. I grew up in Export, PA and spent my entire school career in the Franklin Region School District. I started my secondary education at Westmoreland County Community College, where I graduated with a certificate as a Psychiatric Technician. I transferred to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialty in special education, certified K-12. After graduation, I was a substitute teacher for one year at Adelphoi Village, headquartered in Latrobe, PA. I moved to Maine in 1997 and started my first full time teaching position at The Spurwink School in Auburn. I worked year round with students ranging in age from 7-13 and was there for two years before accepting my current position in 1999. I was one of the certified Safety Care Trainers for RSU 16 from 2012-2015. I received my Master's Degree in Autism from Grand Canyon University in 2017.
When I'm not at school, I love to read, play volleyball, hike, snowshoe, bike, kayak, travel, crochet, and spend time with my cat, Miller. |
